OFF-BROADWAY

Sarah L. Sladek, Limelight’s President & CEO, has traveled nationwide giving presentations on the topic of recruiting and retaining Generations X and Y. Find out where she’s speaking next!

Recruiting and Retaining the Next Generation of Employees

Generations X and Y are changing the way our world works, because what’s worked in the past isn’t working for them.

How are they changing work? Working nine to five isn’t the only way for them to make a living. They would rather start their own businesses than climb a corporate ladder. They will likely ask more questions in a job interview than the interviewer will ask them. Salary is not their primary motivator. And they certainly aren’t going to work 20 years at the same company in hopes of receiving a gold watch at the retirement party.

In just three years millions of Baby Boomers will begin retiring, leaving a significant talent gap in their wake. Every industry the world over is threatened by this impending talent gap as companies struggle to understand, recruit, and retain younger employees.

Throughout this presentation participants will learn how to:

  • Implement successful recruiting techniques based on the needs, interests, and values of Generations X and Y;
  • Create a workplace that is relevant and meaningful to younger generations; and
  • Redirect the Boomer-managed company to become focused on X and Y and experience more workforce stability, productivity, and success.

The New Recruit
The New Recruit is a presentation based on the book written by Sarah L. Sladek. The New Recruit brings to light the challenges that Boomer-centric membership associations are experiencing, and viable solutions that association executives can implement to successfully recruit and retain younger members. Contrary to popular belief, younger generations are ‘joiners’, but their expectations of membership associations are drastically different from that of their predecessors.

Throughout this presentation participants will learn how to:

  • Create a membership association that is relevant and meaningful to Generations X, Y, and soon Z;
  • Identify the association’s roadblocks to recruiting and retaining younger members; and
  • Redirect the Boomer-focused organization to become focused on the New Recruits and experience more success.

Marketing to X, Y, & Z
From YouTube to MySpace, blogs and Webinars, today’s organizations are challenged to understand the the communication styles and preferences of younger generations. Today, the traditional concepts of direct mail and advertising are considered antiques in a store of brand new, rapidly-changing, customized marketing technologies. When it comes to educating and engaging the next generation of executives, employees, consumers, board members, volunteers, and clients, a whole new strategy is required.

Throughout this presentation participants will learn:

  • The purchasing power and preferences of younger generations;
  • New and innovative marketing tactics to effectively reach younger markets; and
  • How to stay relevant and capture the loyalty of generations X, Y, and Z.
